The quotes

Dec 24 2008      8:00P The Quotes at Bar Four     Reading

Apart from regular dates in Reading, Theale and Cookham Dean, The Quotes have recently taken up Wednesday night residency at the White Lotus Sports Bar, Henley on Thames and from October 2008 onwards, the band will be taking it to the next level with dates to be announced throughout the UK and Europe with Italian dates already in the diary.

On September 26th 2008, the self-titled debut album from The Quotes was launched in Reading to a hall packed with supporters spanning a wide age range. Their appeal to teen listeners and university-goers is an obvious one due to their songs’ energetic and modern feel, but also for the seasoned rock listeners, old enough to be their parents… the quality and tightness of their songs shines through and puts them in a class above most debut bands.

On one hand there were signs of Kings of Leon, Arctic Monkeys, Razorlight and The Zutons but on the other, was Bon Jovi, The Verve and dare I say it, hints of Robbie Williams vocal quality, wrapped into a stunningly polished performance that had the crowd screaming for more at the end. And we got more…in the form of a 12-track album which could easily result in some chart topping material if the right commercial backing is found. Emma Dilemma and Why Johnny Why stand out as candidates for serious radio play but 4 or 5 more tracks including Clowns and Superstars and the ballad, Glorious Day also deserve serious recognition.
