Mike is a wonderful violinist/guitarist, he began playing professionally as a guitarist with blues/reggae/soul bands in the early 1970s. As a violinist has become known for work in folk, jazz and rock fields. He now appears at jazz festivals and concerts as a guest artist, or with his own quartet. The programme “Grappelli A Celebration”, includes music by violinist Stuff Smith (a big influence) and Joe Venuti. Mike’s CD release “Blues for Stuff and Steph” (1998 DOZ Records) a tribute to two major influences, Stephane Grappelli and Stuff Smith has received enthusiastic reviews

This band originally came together as a “pick-up” group at riverhouse. They liked it so much (as did the audience) that they decided to stick together. The band has appeared at several jazz festivals as well as at jazz clubs over the country. A welcome return to the barn.

Albany Down is an original rock band based near London.
Paul Muir joins the band as front man; Jonny Bescoby is the percussionist with Paul Turley on electric guitar and Billy Dedman on the bass.
The Albany sound is 50% British Indie and 50% West Coast Rock, quite 80’s in places, but with a vintage heartfelt sensitivity and contemporary aggressive energy. Influences include Led Zeppelin, Guns N Roses, The Who and The Rolling
