Enjoy Destroy

Enjoy Destroy

Enjoy Destroy

Come…let’s play…

Enjoy Destroy have been favourably compared to Juliette & The Licks, Biffy Clyro and Silverchair. Their melodic compositions,
enhancing light and shade and underlining the excesses and the vulnerabilities of this modern age, are tempered by post-grunge anxieties of doom and guilt yet feel welcome in these crunchy & uncertain times of highs and lows.

I saw Basingstoke’s highly favoured sons on a chilly Monday night at the Boileroom, Guildford, and the place was like a statically charged play-pen of anticipation!

The good looking boys have recently been supporting ‘My Vitriol’ on tour and, during this set of live dates, they have built up an astonishing and enviable stage presence and an aura of reliability, trust and sheer musical quality that was fully demonstrated on the Surrey stage.

Enjoy Destroy tested a couple of new tracks on their oh-so friendly supporters but it was the familiar funstuff that the crowd had come in from the cold to celebrate. And, wow, was it not food for the masses? Truly a symphonic sacrament.

Most folk would choose ‘Screamer’ as the iconic Enjoy Destroy song. It starts with a goth-sounding stomach churning chord
line from Freddie that settles down to a rumbling and regular chug-a-chug rising to a sensible and catchy chorus. Lots of
peaks and troughs though… a sure sign of each Enjoy Destroy song.

‘Holiday Lover’ with its kooky harmonisations, chord based anthemic vibes from Chris – along with plenty of syrupy smooth
lead breaks- contrasted well with ‘Rifles’ and the screech and whine of machine chop-shop metals, entwining together with tribal thumping from drummer Tommy, in this futuristic industrial soundscape.

The trademark sound of Enjoy Destroy is the heavily melodic mix of guitar, bass and drums building up a rich tapestry of interwoven
riffs and nifty sequences. The results are often colourful, majestic and sonically influential landscapes.

‘Mactier’ is a favourite song, with a heavily bass influenced riff (Ted) that tends to slightly fade away to reveal, like a gift from the thunder gods, a simply picked shimmer of shiny notes glimmering in a weak light before changing direction and effectively looping-the-loop with an infectious and raucous sing-along chorus.

Celebrating the light and shade, ‘Little Dreams’ starts with a xylophonic set of rapidly dappling notes accentuated by smooth
lead curves and building up to a high plateau of sunlight upon which a platform is established for the insistent and anthemic
choruslines.

For a golden treat and a celebration of darkness and light Enjoy Destroy are incomparable right now. Catch them as soon as
you can, in their youthful and experimental stages of growth… because this band is destined to soar an ever higher arc towards the mountain tops of pop-rock.

Firewater was formed in 2000 and has been regularly gigging around

London and the South East since then. The early blues material gave way

to more classic rock songs as time went on and the duo format lends

itself to a stripped down approach to the songs, showcasing the

considerable talents of singer Ed Hudson and lead guitarist Tim Scopes

If you like blues and classic rock (and don’t like being deafened in

the process of hearing it!) come and see us-you will not be dissappointed….

Prepare to ‘Glam’ Up at Windsor!

Glamsters at Windsor

The Glamsters
Sep 20 2008      8:00P The Ticket Hall     Windsor

We Party like it’s 1973!

The Glamsters are the ultimate 70′s Glam Rock tribute band, unlike many
tribute acts, they encompass the whole genre of the 70′s Glam Rock era,
rather than concentrating on replicating a single act. Each member
models themselves on original icons of the Glam era. Rufus is the
ultimate ‘rock god’ front man, Jonny – a legend of The Glitterband,
Pussie – KISS kitten, Jimmy – the SWEET sensation, and Donny – ‘sex on
legs’ glam guitar hero. The Glamsters have been constantly working
since 1996, concentrating on Corporate Events as well asprivate
parties, festivals and good old pub gigs. When asked Rufus often says
‘we’ve never had a bad gig, people always remember the 70′s and the
great times they had, we just take them back to those fun times. We are
the spirit of the 70′s’

RUFUS FELTZ – Vocals… JONNY TEMPO – Drums… DONNY HARVEY OSWALD -
Guitar… JIMMY RIDDLE – Bass… PUSSIE GALAM – Vocals/Sax.

Rik Martin

Rik Martin Band Sep 20 008      9:00P THE BARLEY MOW

The Rik Martin Band is based in Surrey
& has been regularly gigging around south London since being
put together in sept 05. The band was formed after a meeting with a
good lookin’ drummer girl by the name of Helen Watt (now Helen Martin)
at Robin Bibi’s blues jam at the Grey Horse, Kingston on Thames. Bass
duties are now taken care of by none other than “BIG” Barry Pethers of
Trafficker fame. We have also recently had the pleasure of occasionally
expanding the band with the talents of Plateman’s Ross Ewart. Ross is
without doubt one of the most talented guitarists I have heard
& had the priveledge to play music with, watch out!

The Band always plays a dynamic energy packed set of both covers
& original material giving the audience a truly memorable
experience of our brand of blues & boogie.

Hope y’all like…

Wonder at Prog-Rock Legends ‘Haze’ at Kingston

Haze at The Peel (house of progression) Kingston

Haze -May 31 2008 8:00P The Peel (30th anniversary show) Kingston

Formed in 1978 by Chris and Paul McMahon, Haze were one of the founders of the neo-progressive revival of the early 1980s. The band went through a number of line-up changes until drummer Paul Chisnell joined in 1983, completing the classic line-up which was to remain unaltered until the band’s demise in 1988. On 31st May 1998 Haze reunited for a 20th anniversary concert in Sheffield and now you can be part of the history-of-haze by seeing them on their 30th anniversary reunion.

Although part of the 1980s “progressive” revival, Haze were always much more than just another Yes/Genesis clone, moving with ease across the spectrum from rock to funk, pop to progressive in their own distinctive style. World Turtle have continued in this tradition, bringing modern sounds and influences, as well as powerful, intelligent lyrics to the brothers’ undoubted musical and songwriting skills.

On 31st May 1998 Haze reunited for a 20th anniversary concert in Sheffield. The show was a great success and was recorded for a limited edition double live CD on Cyclops Records. Since then the band have headlined a number of shows in Sheffield, supported IQ and John Wetton at the Whitchurch Music Festival and toured Italy, Belgium & Switzerland twice.

The band are now planning a European tour, a new live CD, and the re-issue of their “Stoat & Bottle” album.

Paul Chisnell – percussion, vocals
Paul McMahon – guitars & vocals
Chris McMahon – keybords, bass & vocals

Influences Van Der Graaf Generator, King Crimson, Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Rory Gallagher, Steve Hillage, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Moody Blues, Rush.
