The Arusha Accord and Johnny Truant at Face Bar - Reading

Arusha Accord at Reading, Face Bar

This from the Arusha Accord- who play the FACE BAR, READING 14th JULY with Johnny Truant, Your Demise, Blackhole and When All Else Fails:

…. In the early part of 2005, we began work on a musical experiment ..

.. With no firm idea of direction, but with a mind to try and combine some of the chaotic variations of Sikth, the rage and speed of Dillinger, and the complex time signatures and textured progressive arrangements of Tool, we spent an intense and quite often frustrating two and a half year period creating and developing our sound ..

.. With the addition of a second vocalist in the summer of ’07, the missing element was found and a countdown to our first show could finally begin.

Since breaking onto the scene on November 11th of the same year, our feet haven’t really touched the ground .. The feedback has been fantastic, and after only three shows, we were excited to join forces with the awesome pioneering new label, Basick Records ..

.. After the recording of our E.P. at Outhouse Studios in January ‘08 (with a release date not expected until the early summer), we’ve now got a little time to write, think, practice and improve with an aim of becoming recognized as one of the most innovative writers and performers in this exciting new tech metal scene ..

Staines ‘live music’ spot Boycott

Hard Fi Dub remixes
WORD ON THE STREETS OF STAINES is that, following Hard-Fi’s sensational ‘surprise’ appearance at THE HOB (Hobgoblin, Staines) last week- the “MANAGEMENT” are very upset with the promoters/arrangers of the show. Word is that one or more of the local managers have been sacked/suspended.
There is a rumour going around that there is a boycott of the pub until and unless the boys get their jobs back….
The Staines lads performed at their local pub The Hobgoblin last Monday without pre-publicity and supporting two ‘local’ bands who were also playing that night. These days Hard Fi can fill stadiums but (like most bands) they started out by playing in the local pub. Hundreds of fans and music-lovers crowded the street outside the HOB to get a chance to see (and hear) Richard Archer and the boys play their hometown barrel house venue. But inside the pub things got a bit tense and anxious when nervous bosses feared that health and safety rules may have been breached by the record-breaking crowds. The night ended safely though- with a barnstorming show put on by the staines-boys who played a selection of their favourite covers, including The Jam’s “Town Called Malice”.

5 Things- This Week in Staines

See Anonymous Tip at Hobgoblin, Staines

Anonymous Tip

Anonymous Tip at The Hob, Staines, Sunday Feb 24th 2008 8:30PM £2

Rock n Roll Rude Boys from Twickenham

The fast and furious tones of Anonymous Tip have been rocking venues up and down UK soil since their inception. They have made an impression within the underground punk rock circuit as an unorthodox group of punk rockers with an ambiguous message. Songs about Marge Simpson, confessions of nymphomania, fascism within rock scenes and their deep routed suspicion of the music industry, have helped them gain a notorious and loyal following.

Their statement of intent is to blend emotive chants with fast-paced grooves, at the same time, keeping everything carefully crafted to ignite the monster inside and to provoke debate and passion.

2007 was a great year for Anonymous Tip. Promo tracks off the new Anonymous Tip record “Not Your Orthodox ____” are helping them to gain a newfound fan following that is building upon their status on the UK rock circuit. So much so, that Visual Director Adam Kaleta, (MTV, Jackass etc) used their music on a pan-European, five-part terrestrial television show to document the Nissan Urban Challenge event in 2007.

Instill at the Iguana this week

Instill thanks to marianne harris photography

Touring with those southern-comfort addled kerosene brothers otherwise known as Hayseed Dixie this springtime, local boys INSTILL (see them with the Dixie boys in LONDON on 19th April – Shepherds Bush Empire) play jumped-up hi-energy rock with plenty of pizzazz and zing.

As a live show they are unbeatable and have already supported the likes of InMe, Skindred and Thunder. Polished and capable, their flavoursome mix of funk and rock has a nice English eccentric tinge and is hugely accessible.

Actually they are quite posh-boys (it must be those Surrey and Hampshire accents) but the electric fuzz and the explosive push of Andy and Phil’s guitars are accentuated by the fulsome deep baritone vocal style of Hodge (similar to Eddie Vedder but with a blacker edge) and punched and scrambled by Alan on drums.

Instill song topics tend to concentrate on matters of social concern but they are exquisitely lightened by a sharp sense of British humour.

Sophisticated beats, a crackling vocal display and exciting riffs and melodies will see Instill become commercially successful and internationally recognised before the year is out- mark my words!

See these local heroes now before they go large…
