RedFest Bands Come Together in Staines for Jubilee Show
The Staines crowd got themselves down to their favourite music venue (the Hob) this weekend to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee and to see some of the big cats billed for this years terrific RedFest music festival. The drunken yet discerning audience enjoyed a spiffing day – hosted by Buckleup Promotions and the beautiful people at The Hobgoblin, Staines
Kicking off with the new diverse acoustic trio ‘Red Horizon playing some choice covers including the aptly chosen Lennon composition ‘Come Togther’ along with an assortment of their delicious own songs. Red Horizon was swiftly followed by some enjoyable yet ironic slices of superbly symbolic punk-based folk by singer-songwriter Simon Hardy aka ‘Suicide Si’.
And then some more gentle yet haunting acoustic sounds from ‘Sam Pickett.’
The little venue started to really heat up when Tree House Fire came to the stage with their unique blend of mash up reggae, ska and pop sounds. Most memorable was the Shaggy song “Boombastic” – getting the Staines revellers up and dancing furiously.
Powerful and energetic heavy rock from Bloodloss followed and was very well received – frightening and amusing in equal measure!
But a stand out performance from New Ivory was seat-wettingly exciting. Wow … This band will make the hairs on the back of your neck tingle. The drumming (Nite) was like a storm of fire, whilst the driving battery of potency from Mickey on guitars and lead vocals with Alessandro on bass (and vocals) generated enough kilowatts of power to illuminate a small industrial town. These are the ones to watch!
Hampshire band Yearbook looked like the cast from the “Happy Days” TV show, but they played their raucous rock numbers with skill and agility.
This fantastic all-dayer in Staines was topped off by fizzing & electrifying Garage Punk rock Band ‘Loose Lips’ who played a set so fresh and so original that you could almost taste the tangy flavour! Their courage and inventiveness was infectious. This band of party rock animals will shake your house ‘till it creaks and crumbles to the ground!
This was an incredible feast of sounds and a rallying call to celebrate quality live music together in jubilation. As a sample of the treats on offer at RedFest 2012- the day provided yet more appetizing evidence that this years Redhill, Surrey event is gonna be the biggest and the best yet! Rock on!
